Getting "Trunky"

I am going to miss these "peeps" in my office. There are
even a few missing that can be seen in the photo below.
Office Service Day picking up trash at Hukilau Beach.
Fale to my left, Taliana, and Emilee.

Rusell from the Philippines, Mairenda from Pohnpei, Emilee from
Fiji, Prince from Ghana, William from Cook Islands, Fale from
Samoa, and Taliana from Oahu.

Charilty Jung is the pretty Korean bride. She served  a mission
in the San Fernando Valley, in the CSUN YSA Ward with
my brother Dave and his wife Mary Lou. She married Jun, from
Malaysia.

On our P-Day we went to see the Iolani Palace.
It was fun to have Tom and Sandy Dunham with us.

They were filming a movie in front of the palace.

The queen's music box is fancier than Bill's
but is similar. It has the same picture inside.
This is a natural spring in front of the "coral" church.
The Kawaiahao Church is made out of coral bricks.
It was the first Christian church in Hawaii.

We had to take the obligatory photo in front of the
of the King Kamehameha statue. Afterwards
we went to Chinatown to the Golden Palace for
dim sum. It was $12.49 a couple and really delicious.

Final Graduation and The Prophet Comes

Here is Emma Jugganaikloo. She worked in my office
for most of my mission and certified in  the MBTI
Personality Assessment with me. She is from Rexburg
and knows the Schmidt twins.

Hardly room for one more lei.

Han from Korea also worked in my office.

And so did Ganaa from Mongolia.
And finally Angel from China. How enriching to work
with these students from all over the world. I will
miss them!

Meanwhile with all the rain our bike trail in Turtle
Bay has become very overgrown.

Many of the BYU-H missionaries had the opportunity to help
with security for the prophet when he came with
Elder Holland on the last leg of their 2 week world tour.
By the way, we are not packing heat, only a
walkie talkie.

Even though tickets were handed out ahead of time many
gathered out in front of the Cannon Center starting 6 hours
before to get a good seat. Some of the missionaries did
bag checks.

You can see the line  into the Cannon Center
goes clear out to the parking lot.

We patrolled inside. It was great to hear from Elder and
Sister Holland before Sister Nelson delivered a very
candid talk.

President Nelson seemed much younger than his 93 years.

The Arrival of Our 10th Grandchild and More of the Irwin's Visit

We were excited about the arrival of Solomon Garff to Mary Jane
and Kevin. Though he was 3 weeks early he is healthy. I know,
MJ does not look like she just had a baby.

I don't know who was more excited for his arrival,
his parents or his big sister Margaret.

We took the Irwins on a tour of BYU-H.

We also took them to Waimea Falls. With all
the rain we have had lately it was flowing
higher than I have ever seen it.

Doesn't Bill's face look better?

The Irwins enjoyed it

and the flowers were beautiful.

This pretty bird had the most beautiful song.

A polka dot plant.

The duplexes Bill is overseeing are coming along
and the waves on the North Shore were big this weekend, so
no snorkeling.

The Irwins Arrival

We were so happy to see David and Lyn.

First stop Matsumoto's shave ice.

Two large with canned milk and ice cream were plenty.

Next stop Chun's Reef Beach where we climbed
over the rocks..

to find 10 turtles.

This was one of the little guys.

Spectacular.

Kawela Bay

Temple Visitor's Center

Luckily not raining at the moment.

They spent two days at the PCC.

Makapu'u Lighthouse hike.

Kayaking to Coconut Bay

We were invited by our friends Bonnie and Lenard Huff to
kayak to Coconut Island. It used to be owned by a billionaire
from the Fleischmann Yeast Company family
years ago that entertained there and even had a small zoo.
Now it is a marine research sight.  It was used to film
the opening scene of Gilligan's Island.
We went snorkeling in Coconut Bay after we arrived to the island.
It was magical. Probably the most beautiful coral reef I
have ever seen. Lots of fish too after we floated over the
shallow reef to the edge of the deeper ocean. The
Hawaiian name for Coconut Island is Moku o Lo'e. It was
about a 2 miles total of kayaking to the island and back
and our arms were sore when we arrived back to our car
at Ben Harper Beach.

This is Bill's face after two weeks of a skin cream to
remove the top layer of facial skin and the pre-cancerous
lesions. He is supposed to have baby soft skin when
he finally heals.

Our friend, fellow missionary Jean Seiler,  painted this
cute cart at the Hukilau Marketplace. It is a photo
spot. This was taken at our last ticket taker
assignment at the PCC.

We had a going away/post APCC party with Randy and
Carrie Smith in our office. They came as volunteer
missionaries to help with our Asian Pacific Career
Conference, which was, by the way, a huge success.

The Smiths are now off to serve a humanitarian mission
in Zimbabwe.

In the mean time, the rain has finally subsided long enough to
allow Bill's duplexes to make some progress.
